    Abstract

The Zindagii Shoista (Living with Dignity) project implemented by International Alert, Cesvi and three local partners in four villages in Tajikistan aimed at reducing violence against women and girls (VAWG) through a combination of gender norm and behavioural change and income-generating activities (IGA). The approach was based on the Stepping Stones and Creating Futures interventions, which were adapted to the Tajik context following an extensive formative research phase. The intervention was monitored and evaluated both quantitatively and qualitatively at the half-way point and at the end of the project.
To evaluate the impact of the Zindagii Shoista intervention in reducing violence against women, a total of 80 families were selected and enrolled into the study from the four villages, an intention to involve 40 men and 40 women in chosen families per village. The study population included younger and older women and younger and older men from project target families participating in the intervention.
Quantitative data was collected through surveys administered before the intervention, half-way point (6m) and at the end of the project(12m); qualitative data was collected through in-depth interviews (IDIs) and focus group discussions (FGDs).
